- Doc Ball's first edition (1946) of Surfing in California listed four surf spots: Windansea, San Onofre, Malibu and Pedro Point.
- December 7, 1963: Santa was to parachute onto the beach to visit the children who gathered at Linda Mar Beach to see him. A gust of
wind caused Santa to land in the water. Santa was rescued by surfers who brought him to shore safe to the relief of all the parents
