LECTURE: THE HISTORY OF SAN PEDRO CREEK & ITS WATERSHED

Join us for a fascinating lecture by SFSU professor Dr. Jerry Davis, entitled: "Some Historical Notes on San Pedro Creek and its Watershed, from Prehistory to 21st Century Restoration."
Dr. Jerry Davis is a professor of Geography and Environmental Science at San Francisco State University, a Pacifica resident, and founding member of the San Pedro Watershed Coalition. His research and teaching specializations are in biogeomorphological systems and geographic information science. An expert on geomorphology (the formation of landforms) and the interactions among soil, vegetation and river channels that form landscape. His is also an expert on the use of GPS and GIS in data collection and analysis of landscape and erosion.
His recent research has focused on pre- and post-restoration stream channel assessment in coastal salmonid creeks and Sierra meadows, with applications in improving restoration methods to enhance habitat.
This event also serves as the Q2 meeting of the Pacifica Historical Society.
